Honestly i don't see it happening with out spending like 50k or more in parts and labor. You would need a rwd something to basicly gut and shove in the mustang,It would be like putting a round peg in a square hole.If your looking for gas mileage skip the whole hybrd fad and get a diesel for it.You can take a isuzu diesel out of a early s10 or chevette and the stick with it.That will get you 30mpg+ but be kinda gutless. The other one would be a vw diesel with a adapter to run a toyota stick will get about the same mileage with a little more power. If you got money to spend a 4bt cummins can be done but its heavy as a big block but could run a auto or stick easy.A friend of mine has a 4bt cummins in his 96 f250 4x4 work truck with a utility bed full of tools and junk.He gets 26mpg with that truck before with the 351w it had it got around 9mpg.

Oh, sorry. I thought you said you were open to Don't ruin a classic. Lots of ways to get good mileage other than a hybrid. Less expensive to install and maintain and you don't lose the integrity of the car.

I'm not worried about the millage i could care less about the millage i dint know what's so hard to understand about that i could care less if the damn thing got 3 miles to the gallon after it was done up as a hybrid the idea was to make something different, a mustang that no one really has. So enough with the mpg here.

If you want something different, I'd suggest and SVO 2.3 swap. This has been done at least once that I have seen, and is actually kinda cool!

Ok ok, don't get your panties in a wad, when anyone says hybrid the natural first thought is mpg, it's like saying I want to build a 500hp motor but then saying 'I don't want to go fast, quit telling me how to go fast'.

If you want to do something different there are a lot of alternatives that will be a lot easier and cheaper than a hybrid since you need a gas and electric motor with a computer that will switch between the two alternately.

How about a V6 from the new mustang in there? 300 hp but unfortunately it gets (dare I say it)~30mpg. Some people are doing V8 swaps to get the 444hp of the new coyote motor but I haven't seen a V6 swap yet.

You just wannabe different that's not too hard to do.What about the supercharged 3.8 from the thunderbird supercoupe? If you want to fully nuts a ls1 or maybe toyota v8.Or if you want something small a ford zetec rwd and that one wouldn't be real hard either. Its real popular swap in the uk for there 70s rwd escort and most super seven kit cars run a zetec also.Or i have seen a old ford taurus sho v8 in a fox body as rwd.

And at least then it would be fast! Remember, different doesn't equal better. And just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should

Most of us you say hybrd we think of a heavy gutless car like a prius or camry hybrd.I rather have a ford 2.3 with a big turbo over anything like that if i was worried about gas mileage.
