Default 65 Coupe to Fastback Conversion.

Anybody out there, ever cut the top off a fastback and put it on a coupe? If so how difficult was it?

It's not impossible. But....Why?

Why not just buy a fastback in the first place? Youre not going to save any money.

Got a very rusty 65 fastback, and just bought a coupe that is almost rust free.

I wouldnt do that.
Theres more to just slapping a top on. the hole rear body of a coupe is different than the fastback. It would also lower the value of the car a good bit.

Thats what I'm looking for. Can you tell me what parts are different. I have the complete fastback. But the coupe is in so
much better shape. I guess I'm looking for the easiest way to complete my fastback.

I really dont know all of the parts. but it probably cost A LOT of money. At least 10,000 if someone else did. And plus it would be hard to find somebody to do this. Has this ever been done? Before and after pics if so?

Basically, fastbacks are different from the back of the front seats, to the rear of the car. Essentiall you would have to cut the cars in half and then put them together.
It's not as simple as just cutting the top off.

Yes, and its not very safe to cut a car in half, and put it back together. If you really want to have a fastback sell your rustbucket and nice coupe and then take that money and put it towards a fastback.

Ken65lover,

I am in agreeance with the other. WHY? Here is an item number on Ebay of a car that the seller did the same thing you are wanting to do. Took a Fastback Top and put it on a coupe. This is the second time around listing it that I know of and the bid is at $7,000. I would think it would be cheaper to just buy the one on EBay.
