Talking M code please help

I've went to a number of sites and get different information. I have a 1969 Mach 1 my vin # is a M code .I thought it was a 351W4v but some sites say it's a cleveland 351 4v, I'm restoring this mustang and someone put a 302 in it. I want to put the right engine backin it . Where can I get the real data.
Thanks , George

i have a 69 m code. it's a windsor. i believe in 70 it could have been either (something like early in 70 production they phased to the cleveland). not positive about the 70's.

All 1969 mustang M codes are windsors. No exceptions. Were many rumors of putting clevelands in but they are only rumors. It happend with other ford cars in 1969 but not with mustangs. I have seen those sites that said cleveland and they are in error.

Thumbs up M code

Thanks, everyone that makes me feel better, I'm having a 69 351w rebuilt and didn't want to be in error on the 69 rebuilt. This is the site where I'm having the work done, (body & ENG) and what it looks like now before the change.
www..deluxe-hot-rods.com go to photo gallery then click on the only mustang, the photo's can be enlarged by clicking on them.
thanks again for the info.

No problem. I had same question when I bought my car. One site said was cleveland and I thought it was in error and did some web surfing lol. Seems that people were saying that they had clevelands in 69 b/c engine was replaced and did not want to say was not correct engine. Plus people like the heads on the cleveland. Added that ford did put some clevelands in other lines it has been long rumor with the mustang lol. My problem was I saw that site that said they were clevelands in 69 and I had a windsor. Also, I had the block vin and knew matched so I was confused. Lucky when the car was at acution they did not know it was numbers matched and did not have the marti to prove it was a GT. Plus there was a piece of junk boss 302 bidding after my car lol. So I got it at a good price.

Geo,
Your info is correct. No Clevelands in 1969, but a few Windsors did find their way into early 1970's. VIN #'s are all the same regardless of Cleveland or Windsor in 1970.
Best,
Al
