Question Horn not working

i have a '66 mustang, At, inline 6, 200 cid and I was told to buy a new steering wheel because the horn isn't working. Could there be another solution for this problem?

You need to do some troubleshooting to see if the horns really work. Go out to the engine compartment and quickly apply 12 v directly to each horn using a jumper wire to the battery. Each should sound briefly when activated. If they do then you need get a wiring diagram and look at the column circuits. If the horns don't sound, check to make sure they're grounded properly and if they are the horns are bad.

Thanks for your input. I'm new here and didn't really give the whole story. I did troubleshoot the issue and the horns work, fuses are good too. I just thought there might be something else besides replacing the steering wheel that would fix the problem.

If the problem is on the contact plate/followers then yes you may have to replace it as the contact plate is molded into the steering wheel. Least that was the problem with mine.
