Default Lowering

Beyond the Shelby Drop & just cutting coils, what other options have you guys seen to lower the front of a Gen. 1 ?

I dont mind poking holes for the Shelby Drop, but with my 225/60R16 tires, around an inch wont be enough for me .... i need abour 2.5" of front drop to get the stance i am looking for.

I cant belive how much just changing from a 205 50/15 to a 225 60/16 has changed my ground clearance. My headers used to worry me in parking lots, now the fenders look so much fuller (is fuller a word?), but the body is way to far off the ground now.

the rear actually rides just about perfect with the air out the rear shocks. Im hoping that the new Maier Leafs im gonna put in will hold it about the same place ...

I am running 1.5" adaptors with 16" SN95 GT rims & am still debating on whether to go with 225-50 or 60/16's .... any opinions on any of this?

Uhhh......so you went from approx 24 inch tire to a 27 inch tire...you do know stock tire height is right smack dab in the middle of those two right at just shy of 26 inch. Why did you go/or do you want to go so large on the tire? 225 50 16 will fit the car much better IMO at about 25-25.5 inch

Additionally, when you put the new leafs in the rear, put in new shocks as well.

A rather exotic, but none the less available option is to have a set of custom spindles made with raised spindle rods. There are a few race shops that can do this. figure about $500.00 each or more depending on what you want. And god help you if you break something in the middle of nowhweres-ville U.S.A.

It is another option, though best reserved for a track car only.

5 leaf mid eye rear springs which lower car about an 1 from stock height.
9 inch rear with 3 inch tubes which lowers car slightly more.

620 1 inch drop springs in the front
shelby a arm mod
only the top 1/4 inch spring insulator pad,
