candy paint
not ready to paint yet. just trying to plan ahead. i think i want to do a candy paint job on my '67. house of kolors stuff is very expensive. saw some other stuff on ebay that would be about 1/3 the cost. anyone have any suggestions? what other brands are out there for candy paints? thanks.

The reason House of Kolor is so expensive is that they use natural pigments where the cheaper paints use synthetic pigments. There is a difference. But, that said, the expense is not small to go with HoK. If its going to be a show car, then HoK is the only way I'd go. If its a driver then the less expensive stuff is fine. Regardless of which brand you decide on, use their system throughout the process. Don't use one brand of base and another brand of color/topcoat. That's asking for trouble.
With a candy you're bodywork is gonna have to be spot on. Any distortion will be easily visible.

If you want to be able to do any repairs or touch ups down the road, a candy is not the way to go. I used HOK on mine and years doing repairs from the same quart of paint, the color is off and noticeable (if you know what your looking at).
