Default Bought heads need recommendations.

I just bought a set of used heads from a local guy for my 351C. they are the 2v heads which is a direct replacement for what is on the engine now. They come bare except for the valve which I will be replacing anyway.
So here is where I need the help:

What machine work should I or do I need to get done? I was thinking decking, porting, screw-in rocker studs, and 3 angle valve job. Did I miss anything?

And what parts should I buy? what rockers, springs, valves push-rods? What else? I am planning to install headers, a cam and timing chain (maybe gears) when I do the head swap.

This will be my first head build and the mechanic that I go to has also offered to me me out and tutor me on doing the build and swap.

The car is my 72 mustang coupe (grande), 351C-v2 FMX tranny dual exhaust. Mods by PO include Performer intake and Carb, Crane fireball ignition and MSD pro billet Dizzy. I do not race! so it is a street only car, but I want it somewhat radical.

Thanks for the Help
John

You have more cajones than I do. Unless you have access to the grinders for the valve seats, etc. you would need to have it done by a machine shop. But, I guess you could just take the bare head to the machine shop and have them grind them. You also need a special tool to put the valve springs on. If you know how to port and polish, then you are a long way on the right road to doing it yourself. Good luck with it.

I have no intention of doing the machine work my self. I don't have that kind of experience or comfort in my ability. I was looking more for suggestions of what kind of work I need to request and what parts and brands are good.

Unless you are planning on a different intake, I wouldn't do much.

The performer is an aluminum version of the stock intake.

Springs to put on the heads have to match the cam. What cam is in the car? Pull the cam card and it will tell you what springs to use....if you are putting a cam in....buy the cam...or at least decide on the cam and look up the cam card to get the spings to use.

Valves - don't use stock 2 peice valves go with a good quality one peice valve many brands out there to chose from and the machine shop should be able to help you find an good economical one to use.

Valve job - 3 angle, 5 angle etc....if you are not planning on a different intake and bigger cam...while you might see some mild performance gains you're prob just wasting money on this.

Screw in studs - again if this is a precursor to a power build, then use you need valves, guides, screw in studs, roller rockers (1.73 ratio).

Porting...I know the 4v better than the 2v....not sure were best to port on the 2v...on the 4v I only ported the exhaust side since the intake already flowed out the ****....I just polished it up a bit there

Seats - need to be look at, might need to be replaced, machine shop will know.
