Default Quick Electrical Question

Hi all, I am hooking up a mechanical oil pressure gauge and I would like the backlight to operate with the headlight dimmer switch just like the dash/radio etc. The radio seems like the best place to splice the power wire for the gauge. The diagram I attached is a copy of what is on the radio itself, and the other photo is of the two wires(red and orange) in the diagram. If I splice off the orange wire for the gauge the light should work properly right?

My understanding is that the gauge gets grounded on one side, and the other side attaches in line with the dimmer. Please correct me if I am wrong!
