Default 68 Stang Ball Joint PLUGS???

Was lubing the Stang and checked my Chilton book to make sure I didn't miss anything. I noticed the book said you have to remove the ball joint "plugs" in order to lube the upper and lower ball joints. I've googled the term ball joint plug and can't find a photo or any information. Anyone got a photo of a ball joint with a plug in it? Did Ford replace the plugs with zerks? Mine have zerks.

IIRC they did come with plugs but most were switched over to zerks at one point for serviceability.

It was an advertising gimmick. Lubed for Life, or Lifetime Lube or something like that. I remember we all laughed back then and pulled the plugs which were just little bolts and put in the zerks. I think the dealers pulled them put in zerks , lube then replaced the bolts and charged for this at the 50,000 mile service and called it a standard. Almost every make did it.
There are special right angle zerks for the upper A-Arms.
