EPAS and Tilit Column

EPAS and Tilit Column
Hey all,
I'm looking for anyone that's installed an electric power assisted steering (EPAS) kit with a tilt column. I bought the EPAS and an Ididit column from CJ's. Their EPAS product page has two videos of them installing the EPAS with an Ididit tilt column, and the Q/A section on the page specifically says the two will work together.
But I have a local Mustang shop trying to install them and they're saying it won't work. I called CJ's and they're saying it won't work either (they said that Ididit might have changed their column shafts).
Has anyone successfully paired the two that can offer some insight into how it's done?
Thanks in advance!

After a lot of back and forth with CJ's (and they did a lot of back and forth with Ididit and EPAS), it seems the two will no longer work together. Apparently earlier versions of Ididit's columns would work, but now they've changed their design.
Too bad - tilt would be very useful.
The EPAS is great though - highly recommended! No more wrestling to parallel park!

Here's the CJ's link: http://www.cjponyparts.com/electric-...-1966/p/PSKE1/
I had power windows installed at the same time, so I can't tell you exactly how much labor cost, but it was in the $400 range. It's a much easier install than hydraulic.
If you search the forum here you can find threads describing how to use a Saturn Vue EPAS system. That would save about $1000 on the equipment side, but probably add a bit on the labor side.

I just completed successful installation of an EPAS and Ididit tilt column into a 1969 Mach 1. The installation was not for the faint of heart and in fact, required modification to the column to reroute wiring, since Ididit had located it where it would not work. I probably installed and removed it 5 or more times before I had everything the way I wanted it. I'm posting this here since in the process of working through a failed install attempt, I stumbled across this thread that stated it wasn't possible. The 1969 column attachment bracket makes the installation very difficult in addition to Ididit's wire routing being incompatible. I had to shave a bit off the corner of the pedal/column support bracket to allow the EPAS motor to sit at ~3 o'clock. Once I did, it fit and the original Ford factory dash bracket fit underneath it...barely.

Chevy uses the same type of electric steering, and the motors fail constantly.
Too bad they do not have a compatible electric rack, instead of the column version.
I would think a power steering system would be cheaper; rack, pump and lines...
