Default 64 1/2 convertible

My dad is friends with a guy who owns a 64 1/2 convertable and it was fully restored about ten years ago. It was in mint condition until two weeks ago when they got rearended in it. The frame is still strait but it needs new quarters and trunk( body part you know).

Is there anything that may be wrong with it from the acident not visible right away? I ask because the guy is trying to sell it to us for a decent price (or so I think anyways). How much would you say its worth?

p.s. Almost everything on it is original, and rust free

WEll, Check the gas tank. IF the frame is straight, and no rust BUY IT.

yeah, i really dont like verts at all but me thinking in a buisness mindset...realize that its in investment i can get a somewhat quick return on. buy it up for "cheap" or "reasonable"...fix the damage and then you have a 100% original frickin CONVERTABLE mustang in great condition....i dono why but people go crazy over convertables for some reason....good luck.

A lot of it will depend on damage to the mechanical aspects. Did the rear axle suffer any damage? If so, not only will that have to be addressed, but the drive shaft may have been driven into the tranny.

and to add, if it was hit hard enough, people dont relize that even a fender bender, can spell disaster as far as the alignment prosess goes. if the 1/4 panels are off, you adjust the doors, than huh, the fenders dont line up, so you align them, than when it comes to putting the bumper, hood all that good stuff it doenst align either and your stuck because everything else is out of wack. 1/4 panels are a bitch to do im not gonna lie. If you dont do it right, the heat from the welder will warp the panels, and they will look wavy when its painted, the other problem is if there off by a little, trust me it shows in the end, and if you even want to sell the car later, i personally check the cars allignment when i look at a car before i buy, if everythings out od alignment, i start the research for damage in the car. But yes depending on how hard the car was hit, it could have done more damage than you think, not only to the body, but the internals as well.
