Default 351C Clicking / Popping sound 2nd opinion

Hello, we just picked up a 72 Fastback with a 351C that had been sitting for a couple of years. Today we got the engine started, which is great. Clearly needs a tune up, but I'm getting a clicking sound coming from the driverside of the engine. It's especially loud under the car by the driver door. I'm inclined to think its an exhaust leak, but it sounds a little different than others I've had in the past or maybe a stuck lifter. Tried to record them so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. Speeds up with the engine, but is quickly drowned out by engine and exhaust noise.

Sound from under car. Nice view of driveway

Sound from Engine compartment.

Thanks for any opinions.

a collapsed lifter usually gets quieter under load (thats been my experience with them)

I agree I've almost always had exhaust leaks get louder. But have heard some that were basically the size of a pinhole in a manifold gasket that sounded different and got drowned out by engine noise.

I'd think lifter or lose rocker, but the sound is definitely louder under the car on the driver's side. So that didn't make a lot of sense to me.

I should also add that this car has no trans installed at the moment and has a new flywheel, bell housing, starter and clutch. So I didn't know if there's a chance that there is something slightly touching the flywheel. If that were the case I'd expect it to be faster I think, but wanted to mention that as its yet another thing I'm not sure about just yet.

Just a follow-up, pretty certain the noise is just an exhaust leak. I'm a little rusty after years away from classic cars. Thanks for the help.
