rear axle endplay
Ive noticed that I get inconsistent brake pedal travel. The car always stops well but sometimes it takes more pedal travel that it did the previous stop especially after a long distance with out using brakes or after hard turns.
I suspected this was because of a rotor shifting and pushing the pad back into the caliper causing excessive gap between the pad and the rotor. Ive slowly been checking all the bearings and finally got to the rears where I found the passenger side to be firm with no noticeable endplay and found the drivers side to have at least 15 to 20thou the harder you pull on it the more you can get out of it. I suspect this is my issue.
do they make shim kits to remove that endplay?
End play should be zero yes?
Thanks

With a c-clip axle, excessive end play is due to worn parts in the differential.
There is no such thing as zero end play; Typical allowable end play is 0.030in max,
0.010 - 0.025 nominal, somewhere around there...
