Exclamation Rear axle problem. 2003 GT.

My rear end recently got loose in a turn and unfortunately my passenger rear wheel slammed into a curb. My ABS light is now on probably from the rotor being practically shattered or a broken ABS sensor, and there seems to be some serious rubbing, definitely enough to not even make me think about driving her anywhere. The axle of the wheel will barely turn now, needs some serious force to get it to move anywhere. I can't tell whats bent or what's going on. I have been told I need a complete new 8.8" rear end, or just a new axle shaft; basically have been told a bunch of things. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before and what I will need to replace on there to get her back up and running again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I hope not but you may need a new rear end if the axle housing is bent. I would attack the brakes first. While the caliper and caliper mount are off you can see how that wheel turns. If it is rubbing that's not good but hopefully it's the axle itself and not the housing.

Definately get the brakes off to eliminate that as a variable. Hopefully it is just a problem with the brakes.

Sounds like something I did years ago in my Vette . But I bent the frame so much. They wrote my car off . I hope it's nothing serious .

Thanks for the quick replies guys. After further inspection, the other side turns with no problems, so it looks like it might just be the passenger axle. Went ahead and got a new axle shaft for the passenger side. It wasn't bent much, but definitely enough to cause problems. We will see how the install goes and hopefully everything works out smooth. Would hate to put a whole new rear end in it.
Any other suggestions would still be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
