convertible top boot trim

Default convertible top boot trim

hello,i have got 66 convertible, the chrome trim where the boot snaps appears to not be seated, how do the fast nuts that the snaps screw into mount i believe mine were installed wrong,the nut on the fast nut is on the top side,i believe they should be on the inside thanks jri

I don't know for sure that yours is the same as a 67, but either way I can't see how nuts are on the top side. Have a hunch, someone took the easy way out😖😖
the photo is from a 67 and inside the snap is a Phillips head in case you can't see it in the photo.
Those will probably be a pain to change too!!

Hello thanks for the response,I am not near the 66 tonight,but I will send pics and if u have a chance would u check on your 67 to make sure of correct way,I am sure this was wrong,but just to be sure thank u for your troubles. Joe

Default Correct boot snaps

I haven't seen the back but I am second owner of calif car and have no reason to think these are not origonal. A good thing to check for being origonal is to look at national parts depot for the snaps that are "concourse"

Here is a pic,the left one is how it was installed,one on the right I think is how it is supposed to be,trim was off the body1/8-3/32.henry wasn't this stupid,

I agree with you, the nut needs to be at the back/ on the bottom. Actually if you thin about it, if it was installed upside down, the trim would hardly be attached to the trunk lid, those fasteres are designed to pinch the surface for strength , when upside down only the half without the nut is holding it to the lid. Don't understand how that could have happened😖😖

It was redone some time back,the snaps are to short if installed correct,thanks for your troubles,just checking for sure
