Default Removing Rear Valence Panel

Hey Everyone Im new to the board! Just a quick question here... My father has a 1965 Stang, but he swerved but to avoid a crazy dog in the driveway and banged up the rear valence. Is it necesary to remove anything else to remove the valence? Fenders? Bumper? I havent looked at the damage yet, but my understanding is that it is pretty much limited to the valence itself. Thanks.

It should be fairly easy to remove the panel, but I would take the rear bumper off too. No need to remove the rear fenders (quarter panels), because these are attached to the roof and welded to the chassis.

It shouldnt be too difficult.

Welcome to the forums!
Let me know how it goes. Will you replace it or fix it? I want to change mine to the GT version. I understand that the aftermarket ones don't fit all that well. Just what I've heard. There might be some ford tooling ones out there. I have not found one yet.

the problem with the aftermarket ones is the brackets on the end that bolt to the rear quarter panel. are not tooled right in that they are sticking out to far and cannot be pulled tight to the car. When i bought my GTA a long while ago, i had the valance that had ran over something somewhere and crunched it. I went off in search for a new one,and only came to a repo, and it did not fit whatsoever!!! it had about a 1/2 inch gap in it, and looked like s@#$. Anyhow, before tossing on a new repo, just try and track down a NOS or a good used one. I will say too, that the repo ones dont have the square holes for the bumber guards to go through, thats what change my mind in the first place. My opinion is, repo parts are all good as far as engine and interior, and other misc. things go, but repo body panels should die!!
