Default 1968 289 Camshaft Questions

I realize this has probably been done to death but I need some help deciding on which camshaft to put in my stock 68 289. I’m not looking to go crazy but would definitely like to pick up some power and have that choppy idle. So far the motor is completely stock and runs extremely well with the holley 2bbl setup I have on it now. I plan to go Holly 4bbl and edelbrock performer dual plane when I do the camshaft. I have done to the car so far, T5 manual conversion, Flowmaster American Thunder dual exhaust, Shorty Headers and a Holley 2bbl manual choke setup. I have been restoring the car but driving it while I work on it. It was originally a stock 289 C4 auto car when I got it. I plan to do pushrods, valve springs, lifters etc. These engines have a hydraulic flat tappet cam right? I have been looking at a few different kits from comp cams so far but just need some advice. The car has a stock rear & gears. I’ve done all the work on the car myself and plan to keep it that way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I thought the last 289s were seen in 1967. In my estimation, the very best performance camshaft Ford used, other than the roller-tappet type, was that used in '65, '66, '67 Hi-Performance Engines, the "K" cars: (my S/N was 5F07K 284486). These had solid lifters, stronger pistons, better connecting rods, etc.

They switched from the 289 to the 302 mid year 68’. I have an early 68’ built in NJ.
