Smile 65 engine swap

I have a 1965 mustang straight 6 automatic. Would it be an incredible waste of time trying to engine swap my 1987 ford crown Vic station wagon? It’s a 302 so that means I would have to replace the axle. Can i just use the axle from the crown Vic on the mustang? Even if the wheelbases are different? 108 inches vs 114.3inches (crown Vic)

Would I also swap the front axle?

Can I switch out the brakes and suspension ton? Or is that something that would be a total waste of time trying til get all that to fit?

Genuinely curious. I don’t have a lot of knowledge of cars but swapping an engine is something I always wanted to do so I thought why the hell not. I do not care about the “authenticity” of my mustang. I want something I can drive that won’t brake down every year. I already have all this stuff and I want to paint the car myself too. Please be kind.

The oil pan would need to be change from rear sump to front sump I think, Also you would probably need new headers as I believe the spark plug angle was different in later 302. As for the axle not a clue but guess it would need narrowing. What trans would you run on it? The original I don't think would hold up and crown vic trans may need body modification to have the right shifter position. Also you would need to shortening of the driveshaft of course.

For me why not refresh mod the 6? https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/mu...formance-guide
