transmission issues on a 65

Default transmission issues on a 65

Good morning I have a 1965 I think it has a c4 automatic transmission doesn't seem to shift through right I only feel it shift once possibly 1-2or 2-3 I don't think it's going into 1 at a stop any way I can adjust something to help thanks for any help

There's a zillion ways this could go. Before anything else, if you manually put the shifter in "1" does it seem to start out in 1st gear - and stay there? If it does, then a possibility could be that you have a working transmission from a slightly newer vehicle. To test that, put the shifter in the "2" position between "D" and "N". Do you now seem to have the full range of gears?
