Default D-Code Verification 1964 1/2 Model

Dear Forum Users,
I'm currently looking to buy a D-Code model but am a bit insecure whether it really has a D-Code sitting in the engine bay or whether it may later have been replaced with a C-Code.
Is there any way to tell from the attached picture of the bell housing if it's the 5 bolt?
Thanks so much!!
Alex

From looking at the casting ribs alone, it looks like a 6 bolt.

Thanks Mostang66 for your reply.

I've now been informed that it's presumably a C4AP bell housing:
C4 Bell Housing Photographs
-> Which would mean 5-bolt and accordingly D-Code

(looks much more like it than the 6 bolt that you posted, me thinks)

If I ever get to do the project I want to, I will need to figure this out as well. I had always assumed the "5 bolts/ 6 bolts" were on the engine side. Now it seems more that it is the bolts around the front pump of the transmission. I'm glad you figured it out and it went your way.

Hi Mostang66,

in the link I posted, on the first picture with the number count added, you can see that the 5 bolts are on the larger diameter engine side - or am I mistaken?

Best,
Alex

You are correct. I could have said that better. It looks like, if you are searching for a 5 bolt bell housing, that you also need to be concerned with the bolt pattern where the bell housing bolts to the transmission. It now seems that the five bolt bell housings can either bolt through the front pump or around it.
