289 Fuel Filter/Canister
New Mustang owner and this is my first post. Looking forward to diving into this project. It's a 1965 convertible with a 289, and a 5-speed that a previous owner swapped in. It has the fuel pump mounted filter canister, which will not budge. Previous owner installed an in-line clear filter between the fuel line at the fender apron and the fuel pump inlet. It's the Mr. Gasket cartridge filter, and of course it's leaking, so I want to delete it and use the original canister.
So two questions. First, any tips on removing the stuck filter canister? And second, would adding dielectric grease to the canister threads when reinstalling help with this moving forward? I assume there's an issue with galvanic corrosion between steel and aluminum. I've heard you can use the later fuel pump (minus filter/canister) and add a filter in-line. But I just like the way the canister/pump unit looks and like the originality.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Looking through some older posts on the issue, it seems that there are smaller size oil filter wrenches that will fit the canister. One post suggested that the proper wrench fit the filter on his motorcycle. I'm not certain about best practice to prevent the galvanic problem.
