convertible whistle
I have a '67 convertible. It has always had a whistle when driving at about 40mph with the roof down. It seems to be coming from somewhere to the front but its very difficult to tell exactly where. Fiddling with all the holes & seams that I can reach while driving makes no difference. Ive tried taping up the seam at the front of the top of the windshield and also the quarter lights & it makes no difference. I've put up with his for over 30 years but I'd love to know what it is. Ive searched many times but no similar problems. Anyone know what causes this.?

Just for grins, try putting plastic bags or something all over the front end, then take one bag off at a time to try to isolate the whistle. Don't drive too far with it like this, you'll heat up. Or, you could strap your girlfriend on the front end and have her listen to isolate it.

i would just say to check all the plugs and grommets in the fire wall, especially underneath the master cylinder.. the one thats like 2 inches, if air is getting up there, it may make a whistle.... although you have checked all your belts on the engine to make sure there not loose? lol

My intial tendency is to say "thats just wrong", but unfortunately eveything seems to be made in a foreign country these days. Its just cheaper, and some how that doesnt make any sense either.

RE: convertible whistle
Thanks for the suggestions, although my wife isnt too keen on riding on the hood.! I'd never thought of it coming from inside the engine compartment as you can only hear it when the roof is down, but I will check that out . I dont know about the plastic bags, but I could cover all the seams with masking tape and see if it goes. I've often wondered if all 67 convertibles make this sound.

RE: convertible whistle
this is the first time i have ever heard of it, it could also very well be something is loose somewhere in the car and you can only hear it when the top is down. IMO if it only makes noise when the top is down, maybe there is something flipping around that u cant see?
