Default Instrument cluster lighting

About done with the restoration of my '65 GT Fastback - added a Scott Drake Rally Pac. As has always been a problem with early Mustangs, the instrument lighting is abysmal, anyone know of a way to improve the lighting? Could halogen bulbs be used or would they melt the blue filters in the cluster? Also, the repro Rally Pac lghts are white... were original Rally Pacs white lighting or were they colored like the instrument lights? Guess I could change the bulbs in the Rally Pac to blue ones.

I know there are electro-luminescent lighting faces available for the gage cluster, but don't want to go to white faced gages.

Open to any help, advice or comments. Thanks

Just clean up all the grounds (male to female) connections and replace the bulbs with GE 1895's.
