Default Electric choke wire.

Does anyone know where i can hook this wire up? it needs a constant 12 volt supply. I have a holey 4bbl 4160 carb. The instructions say that you cant not use the coil.

You need to run it to a switched ignition source. It's best to just run a new wire. If you run it from the +12v at the coil you will have some interesting issues when the car warms up and the current draw brings the voltage down on the coil.

I am going to run into the same problem with both the carb and the H.E.I. Let me know what you do?
Thanks
Gary

Near the firewall(in the engine compartment) there is a connector that goes from the ignition switch to the coil. Before that connector, the wire that goes to the coil is a full 12 volts. After the connector, the wire is 6 volts, or something like that. Disconnect the connector, strip about a quarter inch off of a new wire, and stick it in the hole where the two wires connect. Then put the connector back together, pinching the new wire in between the two. (the connector has three wires, you'll have to follow the wire to find out which one it is).

This sounds abstract, but you will get 12 volts from the ignition. It's kind of crude, but if you dont mind things being slightly ghetto rigged it's a good way to get 12v.

However, the best way would be to take the instrument cluster off, reach down and find the terminal that comes off the ignition switch to get a switched 12 volt source.

Yeah, I would go ahead and solder it to the ignition switch itself.

Why not run the wire into the cabin, and right to the fuse block. You could hook it up to a keyed 12V source right there, like I did on my 70.
