Default vinyl top replacement

I'm thinking about replacing a vinyl top on a 72 Mustang. I'm not sure how to get the trim off without damaging it. Can anyone help? Also, are there any websites that can walk me thru this insallation?

Default RE: vinyl top replacement

O.K. After destroying all of my trim, I thought I would fill those that don't know, in! You have to remove the headliner to get to the nuts that hold the trim on, some are in the trunk also. The car I'm working on is a 72 coupe, I don't know if fastbacks are the same, and I'm not going to rip the top off my Mach 1 to find out! On the bright side, the 72 will no longer have a vinyl top! I'm going to pack all the holes with Dura-Glass, hopefully they won't pop back thru. I thought about using J.B. weld? I don't want to warp the roof brazing the holes, I have created enough extra work for myself already!
