Default Auto to manual?

First the question then the reasoning behind it.... Is it worth the work to change from auto to manual and how much work is behind that? I understand that the support beam for the transmissions are different, I would have to get a peddle setup, and shifter linkage. and Ive also been told that there could be a difference in the tail housing which might make a problem for the drive shaft... (when I replaced the seal for the tail housing it was a C6 but the trany is a C4)

Ok now the reason I want to do this is because when I was looking for mustangs I was looking for a manual but this one was the best deal I could find at the time and about a week or so ago I posted asking questions because my current trans is on the downward slope, and instead of spending 600 for a mechanic to rebuild it I was going to do it my self (I have adequate help to help if I need it) and the mustang is my daily driver so if I do it I don't want to be rushed to get it done so I thought If I get a junk yard trany then I can take my time and then swap them out when I'm ready and if I am going do that then why not do a manual and get what I want...

Default RE: Auto to manual?

It really depends on what you want to do with the car. I like to drag race, so I would keep the auto, put a shift kit in, and a high stall converter, throw in a set of 4:11 gears and your car will walk sideways from a 30 roll!! Some people like to shift gears, I like consistancy and never missing a gear.[sm=burnout.gif]
