Default Six to Eight Swap

I've got a 66 Mustang Coupe and want to put a 289 or 302 into it with a C4 to T5 conversion. I plan to do the disk brake conversion and found the part to adapt the six cylinder tie rod to the 8 cylinder disk brake spindle, will i still need to change the front steering components to get the 8 to fit? I'm still not clear after reading a few articles here and online. Thanks

you'd be spending over 800 bucks to put a 8 cyl in a 6 cyl car. thats why i bought my 66 which has a 289 8 cyl

im pretty sure the v8 steering components are stronger than the 6 cylinder. if most of them are original, you should probably consider replacing them either way.
