Default Carb Identification

My 68 Mustang has a Holley 4 barrell carb on it. I am trying to find out how to identify the size of it 750cfm or what. I have heard a lot of bad things about holley carbs and want to get an Edlebrock. Can any one help. Thanks

The easiest way would be to look in a summit catalog. They have a lot of pictures to help you. Narrow down the serise then go by type of float bowl, choke, number of accelorator pumps and kickdowm linkage. That should get you close. Check the throttle plate size also. Some Holly carbs have a "list # stamped on the base or choke housing.
Hope that helps.

Sarge, for a quick check, look on the front of the choke airhorn for a 4 digit number. If is stamped 1850, its a 600 cfm. If you learn how to adjust and tune your Holley you will find it to be a great carb.

The only 4 digit number I found on the air horn is 1339. So far no luck on finding out what it means.
