Default '71 Mach 1 sunroof?

Alright, heres the deal, ive got a 1971 mustang. Right now im not sure if its a mach1 or just a sportsroof. The thing about it is that it has 2 glass sunroof kinda things. Was this a factory option or is this something that sombody has put on this car?

No sunroofs were available from the factory. A dealer might have isntalled them but it is VERY unlikely. If the 4th and 5th digits of the VIN are 05...it's a Mach 1. If they aren't...it's not.

thats looks like a courgar sunroof to me. I can honestly say no mustang came from the factory with a sunroof installed. When the Mustang came out, the one thing Ford wanted to stay away from was luxery. They built the car with one thing in mind, performance, reliability, comfort. They stayed away from the flashy looks of the t-bird, but still had little cdreature comforts available. The outside of the car was no exception.
One thing you need to keep in mind is, many people out there will buy or add parts to the car, that the common person without to much knowledge, will try to sell as a "rare" or "desirable" car. From the looks of it and IMO i think that sunroof was added to the car by someone, and it wasnt a dealer

About six months ago I saw a 1970 Mach 1 on ebay with a power sunroof with a Marti report! And the sunroofs where available as an option, they where done by ASC American sunroof Corp. They also did the Cougar as well, I know because I've owned two Cougar with the Power Sunroof options! But it sounds like yours is an 80's moonroof and not the rare power sunroof!

Its not really a sunroof. Its more like a T-top but the two windows are only about a 1ft squares and theres 2 of them they wouldnt be hard to take out and put a metal patch back.
