Im still not sayin chevies are bad and im not gonna say mustangs are any better because ive never been around camaros or impalas of that era, so i dont have anything to compare too. Cant we all just get along?

i am not a fan of Chevies...at all. the only chevies i like are the camaro, vette, chevelle, bel-air, and nomad (which is still a bel-air)....chevy's engines are all the same from the 283 to the 7.0....they are the same small block. Ford mixes it up a little and gets it right...im not sayin chevy got it wrong but they need new stuff. I'm glad ford made the jump to the mod plants, the 5.0 was getting old...chevy cant take the hint that they need new engines....i hate to say it, but pushrod engines are coming to an end.

I doubt pushrod engines will go away compleatly any time soon,at least for GM,but, unfortunatly Ford will probobly not revise the Boss 429 ever again. It seems they have embraced the mod motors for all of their performance platforms .Someone commented about their making as much power as the older technology engines, but it seems that they all need a blower to do it.Look at the 5.4 in the Ford GT Supercar,550 hp,tons of technology and a blower. With more tweaks I am sure it will make more! Yet ,the simplicity of the "old technology" engines is what is so appealing.I did not have to do anything terribly exotic to achieve 600 hp with 2 Holley 4 barrels. The addition of a properly set up blower and other mods could double that.Ford only made the Boss 429 for 2 years, imagine if they continued development of it for 10 or 20 years (like chevy) but with the demise of big blocks at Nascar Ford had no further use for it.There was and still is some private development of the Boss 429 and the HP figures are quit impressive. When we dynoed my modified old technology Boss 429 it made nearly 1.3 hp per cubic inch. The engine builder was quite impressed as their 514 cu in chevys only made 1.18. The Mustang that John Coletti built with the injected Boss 429 is quite impressive, but the look can never be the same as a1969 fastbackhttp://www.1969boss429.com Now that 302 Cammer in a 2006,I might have to add garage space!!

it would be nice to see a 514 crank in a boss 9, but hopefully nobody has to gut a 429 anyways...i will show you the coolest mod motor ever...even cooler than the GT (which was actually dynoed at 605 hp at the crank!!!!!)

http://karkraft.com/engines.htm

look for the "Cyklone"...these are the guys that originally modified 1969-1970 Mach 1s for the BOSS 429 engine!! they're still goin strong
