Yeah, GLen scares me sometimes. The only time i talk to mine, is when something is wrong, and it's not nice words coming out of my mouth.

Thing is, I'm quite the newbe when it comes to Mustangs, older Mustangs - hell, cars in general. Although, I do want to eventually learn to build cars...

Anyway, I do have the underdash a/c - however, it doesn't seem to get any cool air whatsoever, nor heat. (Temp **** goes from 1-3, I think, which one is cold?)

Also, there's a switch panel integrated into the dash, above the underdash system. Has a switch at the top of it, moves horizontally. Then there are three switches below it, they move vertically - one says Heat, another says Temp, and the other says "Off"... Don't know what this is for, so can someoen tell me?

What's a 2-60? [>:][&o]

2-60 air conditioner is to roll the two windows down and drive 60 MPH. Those ***** on the heater control are to control the heater and defroster. The switch at the top of it controls the blower motor. That has nothing to do with your air conditioner. The two ***** on the condenser unit control the amount of cool air you get from your Air con. 3 is the coldest, and the other switch controls the fan. If you are not getting cold air from it, you are most likely out of freon. Have a qualified air con tech check it out.

yep. Your probably out of frigerent. Hopefully these old cars have the switched that detect if it's gone or not. If it doesn't, it can burn up the compressor.

It doesn't Charles, so he needs to get that old R-12 out of there. And replace it with 134.

Pretty hard to burn those old iron compressors up. Watch the compressor pully while someone turns the ac on you should hear a click and the inner pully should start turning, if it doesn't you may need a new clutch or new bushings for the magnet. There should be a sight glass on one of the hoses, ive had mine apart so long i cant remember excatly where if there are bubbles in it with the ac on you are low on freon if there are no bubbles it is either full and should work or completly empty at this point if you dont have the equipment take it to a ac shop

Hmm... So I should take it to an A/C shop?

Do I really have to have it switched out for this 134?

The defroster - how do I use that? I've kinda needed it lately. [&:]

3 is the coldest? So, what about 4 or 5?

my dad owns and runs a heating and airconditioning business here in NC so heres the DLR-12 is pretty bad for the enviroment and you cant get it any more, r-134 was some better but its still not great, r-22 is the best right now, besides puron (but you cant put that in a car) so if you take it to an AC shop there probably going to convert it to r-22

So, even if I wanted to keep this one, if I take it to an A/C shop, they'll convert it to the R-22 anyway?

I assume they'll atleast ask my permission, right?
Or atleast allow me the chance to keep the old model for kicks?

I dont know about these old compressors I havent put mine back in yet but when I converted my 90 bronco they used the same compressor just changed out some leaking hoses and flushed the system out. doesnt seem to cool quite as well but its a big space inside to cool and Texas summers are pretty brutal
