Take your battery to a auto parts store and have them do a load test on it. It could be you have a shorted battery

One of the cells in the battery may have gone bad, and the battery is shorting out internally. Also, you may have voltage once you charge the battery, but there will be very little cranking power. Take it and the alternator to a parts place and have them both cheched.

YEP, my impalas battery did the same thing. It'd start up one minute, and not the next, lights be cutting on and off, and all kind of wierd stuff.

Again, check all your connections. If everything is clean and tight, replace the starter relay (Solenoid). And, while you are at it, replace the Voltage Regulator. Did you have the alternator checked? How did you know the battery was shot? Did you have it checked along with the alternator?

Check your starter solenoid by jumping across the terminals with an insulated screwdriver. Turn the key to the "on" position and using the screw driver blade, make contact from the battery side of the solenoid to the smallest connector nearest the front of the car. THIS MUST BE DONE WITH CAR IN NEUTRAL OR PARK. It is definitely going to spark a little on contact but don't be alarmed. When you do this, does it crank ? If so, the solenoid is bad and it needs replaced. less than 20.00 at any parts store. If it still doesn't crank, check your ground cables where they meet the engine and body and take a quick look at your starter connections. Good luck, Dean

Like RXRXION said, Sounds like a ground problem if the battery was OK. If you replaced the negative terminal already it is probably where the egine is supposed to be grounded to the firewall.

Ok guys problem is resolved by changing the following items:

- cable from solenoid to starter
- ground cable from dynamo to engine
- ground cable & location from battery to engine
- cleaned up the contacts on the solenoid

thx for the info!
