Default Tight gascap

I bought a gascap from CJPony Parts to replace my original on my 67 coupe and its too tight to fit. I mean, I can make it fit but its so tight it scraped the primer off the body. I took the filler pipe off and it looks like the flange got bent from overtightening on the screws so I had it flattend. Also, the body/pipe flange gasket was paperthin and broken. I plan on order 2 new one and seeing if one is enough or double stacking them if neccesary. U guys had this problem? Yes, gascap is for that year

well i havnt really had that problem, but i can say a quick way to fix that problem is to put an additional cork gasket that goes onto the filler neck on the outside of the car will move everything out just enough to give it a tad more clearence off the taillight panel

Yeah, it's a common problem. And gta289 hit the nail on the head: shim up the filler neck with multiple gaskets. Works every time.

Ok, thanks guys. Thats what I was planning to do because it is only like a millimeter too tight but steel against steel doesnt flex to well haha. They are only a dollar so I will buy 2 or three.
