posi traction
Hey I was just wondering how much I should expect to pay for a used posi traction setup? Im needing to do some work on my axle that requires opening it up and as long as it is open I would like to put something in thats better than the stock one wheel wonder.... but im on a budet so thats why I was going to go for a posi and not lock wheel or lsd or anything fancy...
well I dont need anything very radical and dont plan on getting gobbs of power out of my ride but if I punch it I want more than just one wheel spining.... so if all I need is a clutch pack then how much are they? (I dont know to much about rear ends yet so bare with me)
OK there are two ways you can go cheap and expensive... they both do the same thing and to tell you the truth i don't know the difference.... so remember you get what you pay for....

Those are nice and I say the fallowing with out trying to offend you but..... that doesnt answer my original question..... how much should I expect to pay for a used posi traction system (I know someone who might have one and if he does I want to try and get it off of him at a fair price for both of us)?
thats no good for street use really though? doesent it start making all kind of noise and really put strain on it whenever you go around a corner?
wouldnt we want limited slip of those?
....that is...if u can simply just throw it in there and bolt it back up and thats it....seems too easy though...

Check Ebay, I have a freind who is selling a 9" posi for $200. I doubt you have a 9" rear though, if you do I can hook you up. A new posi will run about $400 and you cant just add clutches to an open diff. Maybe if you are a machinsit and have alot of time on your hands you could figure out a way to do it.
Detroit Lockers dont hurt anything when they turn, they do make a clicking noise but its not like the whole car is going to fall apart from using one. They sound similar to a CV joint gone bad in a front drive car.. click click click click etc...

i found an article, and i think i understand how differentials work.
looks like they just added the posi gear pieces to this open differential and its now posi....seems relatively easy and straight forward.

you could put that in your existing equipement and it would be posi right? that would work for a street car in other words....?
