Normal light clicking during turns is audible above the engine sound, but not obnoxious. The occasional loud bang from the rear while on pavement is much louder, about like a u-joint letting go under load. A steering twitch usually accompanies the bang. Off road is where the lockers are truly in their element. So, if you won't be taking the Stang off-road very often, then look into a limited slip differential. There are a few on Ebay right now at decent prices. The problem will be the shipping costs.

I have one in my car and you don't hardly hear it. You only hear it when your make a turn and its not that bad of a sound. Some people say it sounds loud but, must of them never had one in their car. I can tell you, its not that bad for one and its ONLY when you make a turn. The big thing about it is, its not as costly as a limited slip and its stronger than ANY you can put in a rear.

By the way, when I did my install, I wanted something that gave me the best bang for the buck and would stand up to more HP in the future without exploding into pieces. Just do a search on Richmond Locker or just check this site out Lock Right You will not be sorry..

very cool. good price i say....

i discovered they make a locker that is silent. cost a bit more but not THAT much more.....still less than 400 from what i can find. Apparently its the same locking power and all that just is totally silent, no clicking....im gonna check into that....

Yup, they are about the same design just about $100 or so more. I was trying to keep the cost down, I knew I was going to be spending about $700 or more on the rebuild. So, another $100 was not in the budget. But, now I have a rear that will take 400hp and the clicking is kind of cool. People ask, "what's that clicking?".. Gives me the chance to tell them, its a Richmond locker!!
