I'm afraid you haven't given nearly enough information to determine a value. As a matter of fact, it's next to impossible to give an accurate dollar amount based on a description alone. You've got to see the car in person. I can tell you this though: the 200 cids won't ever bring as much as their V8 counterparts, but cost every bit as much to restore. On the up-side, they make a lot of sense for a daily driver. Better gas mileage and they typically handle better (due to a lighter power plant). Don't plan on restoring one and getting your money back out of it. That rarely even ads up for the eight cylinder cars (especially hardtops).

a lot of people buy a 6 cyl and want to convert to V8....this doesn't make financial sense at all.....but if you want to keep a 6 in there then they are cool cars

post a lot more info and pics, then you will get better answers.

Having a classic mustang for a hobby or a driver doesn't make economical sense. It's the fun factor that makes it worth it!

A 6 cylinder car can make pefect sense for upgrading to a V8 depending on the outcome expected. As for value, from what I have seen the 6 cylinder car will average $3,500.00 to $4,000.00 less on initial purchase, when comparing comperable condition vehicles. (IMO) Dan66 is correct in that there is no cost savings during the restore. The only caveat I'd mention is that a 6 cylinder car is so much easier to work on.

My car is an original 6 cylinder car, on it's way to a V8. The only original V8 parts I'm using are the V8 drum spindles. Nothing else. So in my application it made sense. Retail value would depend on the buyer, as this is not a "restored" original, more of a hybrid "theme" car.

YMMV,

i'm doing the same. got my 67 original i6 chassy (no engine) for $1200, and it was in pretty good shape. now i have a 302 and a 289 sitting in my backyard. it'll probably be getting the 289. you can't beat a good condition chassy for $1200.

not a bad deal. 1200 bucks is nothing for a decent body. throwing a dime a dozen engine in there isnt all too insane either...just gotta beef up the suspension...but i guess you'd prob do that just for good measure anyways with a V8.....

The classic car price guide I have says deduct 20 percent for a 6 cylinder. I'm not sure it shouldn't be more than that. Shopping for two years, I saw 65 and 66 verts with sixes priced between $10m and $14m. The V8s were $16m to $18m and often more. I agree with ScottH's $3500 to $4000, at least on verts and fastbacks.
