Default Spark plug wires

When assembling a custom set of plug wires, how much of the wire core should be left exposed at the cut?

The directions that come with the wires should tell you, but I would think 1/4 to 1/2 inch. It would need to fit well into the slot of the metal thing.

Thanks Soaring---I was using about 1/4 of an inch, and didn't seem to want to stay back behind the connector. I didn't know if I could go much longer than that. 1/2 inch worked much better. Still have the buzzing sound in the speakers though.

Still have a buzzing radio, huh? Look at your alternator, and see if it has a condensor (noise suppressor) attached to it. It should have, so get one if it doesn't. Here is a pic of mine. You will see the little round condensor that looks just like a condensor that goes into your points system in the dizzy.

Bingo!!! No Condenser on the alternator. Is install pretty straightforward?

Which is more effective? Installing the condenser on the Alternator, or the VR? As for the Alternator, is just a matter of mounting it to one of the posts, and hooking the wire on one of the other posts?

Here are pics of mine I just took. I've had a few brewskies, so they may not be perfect. Follow my finger to where it connects.
