Default under trans tunnel...

I cant find that piece that connects the two frame rails in the trans tunnel in my NPD catalog....is this one of those hard to find items? Also is it the cross member that the frame rails weld to in the front to be aligned? Ive been tempted to rip out the whole front frame rails(with everything including aprons) but figure i can use the old for measurments and such. Im also concerned about the trans tunnel itself...I was thinking i could save it but it is rusted through along the side near the top half (towards the firewall) and on the slope part a little. The rest of it seems to be okay towards the rear....is it wiser to just fix it up with sheet metal or just get a full piece floorboard(because floors are rusted through)? I know those LH and RH floors come up on the side towards the hump but i dont know if that will be enough.

Thanks!

Snap a pic of your firewall and tunnel so we can get a better idea of what you are talking about and how much damage you are facing.

I got the pics...the part i am asking about is the one with the arrow...is mine still usable, if not where do i get this part? I heard that the frame rusts from the inside out and the other parts are being replaced. The last pic is of the trans tunnel and the circled area is where the rust holes showed up while i was wire wheeling.

Thanks.

itwould be more money for the full floor pan. but it would make it ALOT easier. with your trans tunnel as rusty as it is, the full floor would probably be your best bet.
as for the crossmember that connects the two floor supports it would be alot easier to tell if it is bad or not once you remove the floor. i thought mine would be very rusty, but once i got it out of the car it wasn't too bad at all.

I agree you should buy the one piece floor, brace the door jambs before you decide to cut it out!
