Don't get me wrong, mods are fine. Do what you like. I'm putting shelby lights on my 67 coupe. I'm just saying that the Elenor car was just too much for me. The real turn off for me is how people went nuts over it. Over night everyone thought that car was just the coolest thing. I built my first mustang in 77. I've known they were great cars for a long time. Now with that movie you cant find any fastbacks for a reasonable price. You have to know when to stop with the mods. Sorry just venting

I'm pretty sure you couldn't find a nice fastback mustang of any year for a cheap price, even before that movie. I think if you own the car then you should do what you want to. These cars as with all other cars are made for the enjoyment of making it your own. I'm glad that some people choose not to go on the radical side with their cars. But the ones that do it is their choice and I don't think anyone has the right to tell them otherwise. As for the guy that buys the fastback, makes an Eleanor copy out of it and then decides "it's not worth it" and wants to sell it. That is the kind of people we should all be complaining about. You don't build something like that and then try to pawn it off on somebody else. Sounds to me like somebody thought they could make some money on the project and lost. Just my opinion.

kinda like impulse buying at shopping places at the cash register. you see something, you want it, you buy it, then after you realize you didnt want it. they saw the movie, got all pumped up by the eleanor, bought a fastback, did eleanor mods to it, then realized they dont want it, so they try to sell it, and usually price it at a high price because they think its rare cause its an eleanor clone. no originality in people like that. i still dont like body kits

The only thing I don't like about the Eleanor (looks wise) was the tail lights because they were not the classic three rectangles but other than that I don't think "scoops" should be put on a car unless it needs it for an inparticular reason... ie cooling parts, ram air, etc

those r the stock shelby tailights and the stock shelby scoops. although i dont like the scoops where the louvers go for normal fastbacks.

You just can't put a body kit on a classic car. The body kits for Shelby style Mustangs are just dress ups in my opinion. You want a car to look a certain way, buy the real deal don't dress up your car.

You still wanna dress up a car, buy a honda and chop away.

Do you think classic Honda owners will have this same leave it alone attitude in 30+ years?
"How dare you ruin the lines of your '95 Accord with all that plastic and fiberglass!!!"

Phooey I say! Phooey.

Mods, body style, paint, interior and engine have been adorned on Stangs since they rolled off the assembly line. Making it or any car personal is one of the great things about owning your own.

I have great respect for those that want to keep a concourse car. The work and beauty of such automobiles is something to be admired. But then again, I think a hot rod '29 roadster looks damn cool too. Or how about a tricked out '57 Bel Air? Sure, they look good all original, but styling a car can be damn good looking.

I say make it your own! Do what you can to make your car yours. It doesn't have to be Eleanorized or is that Shelby-ized. For those that scoff, let'em. Who wants a car that looks like every other car anyway?

I don't think changing the valance panel and hood qualifies as a body kit, nothing wrong with letting your car breathe better witha hood scoop and opening in the valance. Hell you can even put the new deck lid with the lip of a spoiler on the 65-66, its not original, but keep it clean, don't go the way you see too many people gowith some the cars on eBay. There is far worse than eleanor out there.
