Default HANDLING MODS: OPINIONS/EXPERIENCE?

Well since the 2v is not going to get much quicker without a Kenne-bell SC I deceided to go with some handling mods for April when the car comes out of hibernation! Here's what I have and am thinking about getting:
1. Aluminum steering rack bushings-Got these from MM and both they and droptop94 recommended them. From what I gather quicker steering response, more solid feel in the wheel, less adjustment taking curves. Only $40.
2. I bought a et of KYB GR-2's. Just about 15% increased rebound from stock but I cannot have too stiff a ride due to a few back surgeries. $160. shipped didn't hurt either!
3. Here is my next addition and the one I am a bit hesitant on getting but am going for them. Ford Racing lowering springs. 1.2" front and back. I also have FR%'s 17"x9"/10.5" with 275/40 and 315/35's. These tires are stock height and I see no where that they may interfere when dropped just a bit over an inch. The Springs are the Ford #M-5300-G's for verts. Specs are 500/570lbs/inch front and 170/310lbs/inch rear.(209.99 + handling from JEGS) I have NO IDEA what stock is for rates. These are progressive as the numbers show. Combined with the GR-2's I think they will be a good match as the springs will not exagerate the spring stiffness. Any suggestions or experience would be appreciated. I may go with Eibach anti sway bars sometime but not until I drive on this set-up for a while. Thanks, Mark

Not much handing experience with the verts, huh? Well Jakes said I would not likely need the aftermarket CC plates and I would not notice the stiffer springs after a couple of weeks so I ordered them today from JEGS. Once I get these on with the GR-2's I will post my impression of the mods should any others deceide to get more from their cars. 2V power is very limited without a lot of cash or FI. I will enjoy mine as a 14 flat at 101mph 1/4 mile car with a rop top which helps make up for the lack of raw power. Heck in 2009 the V6 is supposed to put out 300HP so we old 2v guys will not be able to compete for long! Enjoy, Mark

I am not an expert on the 99, but on my 91 convertible the best handling improvements were to stiffen the chassis (8 point cage, subframe connected, over and under engine braces, all Kenny Brown) and quality tires.

Good luck
