Default Top's frame broken

Has anyone had the top metal frame break? mine broke about 2 inchs from the first joint. I tried a pot metal brazing but it wouldn't stick. I tried a normal gas weld, won't stick. I plan on JB welding it then jb welding a 1 inch by 4 inch metal strip to the top and bottom and then drill and rivet about 4 spots. Anyone have any other ideas?

Default RE: Top's frame broken

Only thing I can say is look for a junk yard and hopefully get that peice. Or you could get it welded at a machine shop. I would be suprised if they couldn't get it back together like new. The only problem would be not burning the top while doing so.
