Default Emergency brake light not working....

I got a 2001 Vert auto. Normally I just Put car in park then lift Emergency brake open the latches and press the button to open or close. The only thing is the Emergency brake still goes up and works in stopping the car but the light does not come? on so I cannot move the top. Any thoughts?

Thanks

im no expert on this stuff. but i would say you should pull the console out and look to see if there are any pinched wires that lead to the e-brake. or the wire isnt making a good ground like it should be.
