Default Aaaarghh! So close, any ideas?

Okay, so on my '85 vert that I recently bought knowing the top needed some repair to work ( was told one top cylinder needed replacing - buyer beware), I've now replaced both top cylinders, one relay, and the motor. I finished filling it tonight and on it's maiden voyage down my top came to a screeching halt with about an easy 12" still to go. It will not budge any further, even by hand. I unzipped the glass and placed that at the bottom, checked for material binding - none that I could see. It goes up perfectly and comes down evenly.

I am recalling now, that while I had the cylinders off I did try to lower manually, and had the same problem, but dismissed it at the time figuring I'd cross that bridge when I came to it... we'll I'm here.

Anyone have any ideas? It is a newer top, but does show some wear
