Default Need help: Convertible issues

Hello guys. I just joined the forum. I have heard that there are a lot of Mustang lovers on this forum, which are very helpful and share their experiences.

I am trying to get some help. I have a 2005 Mustang GT convertible (38K miles), which I enjoy very much. But I am having two somewhat minor problems with it:

- The rear window defroster is not working. One of the defrosters hooks fell off. Took it to the dealer twice and they could not fix it. They said the whole top needs to be changed! I thought that recommendation was crazy. They told me that they don't do any glass work and took it to a third party to get it fixed...I wish I knew that when I first dropped it off.

- As of last week, the Gas Tank Gauge sometime goes to completely E (although it's full) and it turns Red. This happens on and off. And this I believe made the Check Engine Light to turn on, which continues to stay on.

Have you ever had or heard of any of these problems? Do you have any advices, especially on the defroster? The dealer said that they could not only replace the back window, the whole top needs to be replaced...I thought that was pretty crazy... hopefully that's not the case!

Money is very tight right now and any sincere help/advice is very much appreciate it.

Thanks a lot,

mr

your car should still be under warranty correct? if so, that sounds like a problem that the dealer should pay for, as long as they cant link it to neglect.

Hi, the 2005 had a 3 year warranty with the option to extend. Something always breaks after the warranty!

Try a different dealer in your area. Sounds like an electrical problem that can be fixed without changing the top.

The dealer was right about the back window. The whole top has to be replaced whenever the back window needs to be replaced. However, the better auto parts stores have a heater/defroster fix kit that you can try.
You really can't lose. What's your worst case scenario? You have to replace the top.
