Default Floorpan replacement - any ideas?

Well here we go. I have a 1987 Gt Convertible that is rust free besides the fact it appears the heater core leaked and rusted most of the passenger side floorpan. Got a new floor pan, measured and cut out old floorpan. My biggest issue is the extra support riveted to the frame rail (under the door area) from the factory. How do I get access to that area to weld? Do I have to remove the extra support? Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!
