Default 2007 GT C/S 'Vert Shattered Rear Glass

I have an '07 GT C/S 'Vert with 25,000 km on it... Have never had any problems with it, but this past weekend was putting the top down after a round of golf on a hot day, it was about 5/8 of the way down and I hear a loud 'POP' ... I proceeded to put the top back up and find the rear glass shattered...and of course it all fell out into the tray that the top lays in when its down... Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

There was nothing in the trunk or in the tray that the top folds into when its down, not sure how it could have happened, I am not sure if the rear windows went down like they normally do or not, but not sure if that would cause it or not....

The top won't go down unless the windows go down so that wouldn't be an issue. Its possible that the glass had a defect and the heat just weakened it more. How did your insurance company respond when they found out the top had to be replaced with the glass?

i have never heard of that before either, at least with a glass rear window. i have heard of plastic rear windows cracking with extreme temps. you might want to check with ford before you check with insurance, because it may actually be a warranty issue.

You may alreadyknow this, if not I'm sorry to say it, but you will need a whole new top. the rear glass in teh 05 and up vert is made into the top. You have to repalce it all inone peice. it's not liek the older ones where you can just repalce glass. It major expensive too. i ahd the top on th e05 vert i used to have repalced and the top aline is about 1500 not conunting labor. I'd call the insurance, the updise is if you ahd a vinyl top you can get teh cloth instead.
