Default Top rattle

My 05 has a really bad rattle in the upper corners of the windshield area with the top and windows up. When I hit rough spots in the road there is a terrible rattle. Anyone else have this problem?

I applied oil spray in the 3 borders ( laterals and upper) to all the material who is in contact with the windows, of course i used a rag to avoid leak, works for me.

I've seen this. Couple of years ago an '05 vert came to my shop with a rattle complaint.

It seems to me that one was tracked down to a piece of ABS plastic rubbing against a piece of metal in the header area or front of headliner.

You could aslo place electrical tape between areas that are coming in contact with each other such as alignment pins and the plastic anchors at the front clamps.

This is caused by the tension cables on 05-07 convertibles. They run from the from the front of the top frame to the area ahead of the rear wheel well (not visable without removing some parts). There's a TSB (TSB 07-20-3) that covers this problem. The fix is to replace the cables with a new part number. I did this myself on my 07, but the TSB instructions aren't the best. Do a search (convertible tension cables) for more info and some better replacement instructions.

Yep, I checked it out and it all indicates the cables. I'll be getting them and changing them soon.

Mine has had more of a squeak/rubbing noise in the hard panel at the front of the top ever since it was replaced (twice) under warranty. If you push up on the filler board at the corner of the top, it stops making the noise. Mine is not a rattle but more like two surfaces rubbing together. I don't know what they did to my top, but one of the bows was bent and from what I gathered, they replaced the entire assembly and they left all sorts of bolts and screws loose. Maybe its an alignment issue but its never going back to the top shop the dealer used. I've just been dealing with the noise.

My 09 had the rubbing togather squaeks too, mostly when it wams up. On mine, it seems the convertible clamp is loose. Well, it's bolted down tightly, but it doesent make a very tight connection. Was assuming that was the problem and going to replace it in a month or to. The part was $135 from a good, local dealer.
