Default Fox Convertible Top Installation

Installing a canvas top on a 1990 Fox.........At the front lower corner of the sail panel there is a "pocket" built in to the top material that hooks over the frame at that location. Inside the pocket, there is a piece of plastic cut in the same shape as the pocket. Is that plastic piece intended to be on the inside or the outside of the frame?

The piece of plastic is intended to be used as a wear pad to keep the frame from rubbing a hole in the material. Memory's not as great as it used to be,so I can't say if it's inside or outside; but whichever way it protects the material. Luck.

Yeah, that was my conclusion. I currently have it installed to protect the outside, but I am planning to make a minor adjustment in that area and want to get the question resolved. All in all, pretty easy job with some preparation and patience. Used Stayfast canvas and it turned out great. Thanks for the input Num!

smac,

I always put the corner of the pillar into the pocket so that it would stay in place. This way, the plastic is on the inside of the metal pillar and the outside of the top stays on the outside of the metal pillar.

Luck.
