Default What convertible top maintenance / rehab? on 74 Mustang II

What remedial maintenance should I do on the convertible top mechanism on a 1974 convertible Mustang II?
Is there a list posted somewhere already?
Or a list for convertible tops in general?

Kayakeur,

The care and maintenance of a convertible top mostly follows logic:
1. keep it clean
2. don't leave the top down long term(don't put top down and leave it down in garage for 3 weeks)
3. don't allow anyone to sit on top of it
4. once every couple of months, apply a vinyl protectant(like 303 or raggtop)
that seals the top
5. start saving money every month for the purchase and installation of your next new convertible top cover.

Good luck,
Scan

Good poop in the above thread but I replaced my convertible top on my 02 and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Find yourself a good, "how to" video and for only the cost of the replacement top and materials you can let the good times roll.

btw, I didn't know FoMoCo made a Mustang II convertible in 1974.

They didn't. Last convertible Mustang until 1983 was the 1973 model year. OP is either confused or trolling. And yes I know, this thread is very old.

Actually while Ford didn't make a convertible, it was possible to get a 1974 Mustang II convertible that was done by an aftermarket converter. I almost bought one but decided it wasn't practical with 2 kids.
