What is reccomended that i do? There are a couple of dents/dings in it that i can probably hammer out from the inside (i'm going to be stripping the whole car down, it is a project car after all) What type of body filler?

i would sand down the car with 80 grit and go from there is there alot of rust if not i wouldnt strip the whole car! for bodyfillers i recommend evercoat!

 

36 grit. Gets it down to paint in no time, which is what you need to do if you have body repairs to do, then 220 then 320 for a finish prep for primer/paint.

If you want to find all the rust, go get the car sand-blasted, that's more sanding than you could ever imagine. Take you a year of sanding.

 

Use lightweight filler (usally blue in color)
36 grit is a bit radical, I usually use 220 on paint no rust and 80 grit on rust, then 220 to smooth out for primer.
You can't sandblast either, because then you would need to put filler on the whole surface of your car to fill in all those minor indentations made by the cutting beads.
If you touch the surface with any kind of degreaser or SILICONE.. You must spray CAR PREP. (In an aresol can) This will clean those areas accidentally touched after sanded. The rest of the car just blow off with an air gun. If you shall have the need to sand runs in the primer. This means your metal wasn't warm enough. Take a salamander fire it up next to the car before you paint to heat up the metal. Do this before you put the clear on as well. It'll give you a thick coat and a shine that you would die for. No runs when the metal is warm to touch. Anyway use 600-800 grit sandpper to buff out the runs.
